The Pura Vida Inshore Classic is a fun event for all ages that capitalizes on the bountiful inshore fishery available along the shores and rugged coastline of Pacific Costa Rica. The main tournament is a 1-day shootout where teams can WIN awards & some serious CA$H by either scoring the most roosterfish release points, or weighing-in the heaviest trio of coastal gamefish.
This tournament also offers a half-day Kid’s Fishing Derby where tournament teams are encouraged support the youth fishing movement by taking a kid fishing in a fun tournament atmosphere. Each Jr. angler (age 16 & under) will earn a medal of participation with the chance to win awards and prizes for their performance on the water.
General Tournament Rules: There are two (2) divisions: Roosterfish Release & Inshore Slam. Awards will be presented to teams and anglers for their performance in releasing the most aggregate roosterfish points (verified by photographing the fish in water with a custom ruler), and/or weighing the heaviest trifecta of non-roosterfish (Snook, Snapper, Corvina, Tripletail, Amberjack, Sierra Mackerel, Grouper, Jack Crevalle) during the one-day tournament (Saturday, May 23th).
Kid’s Fishing Derby: This is a fun derby available to kids ages 16 & under. Both participating and non-tournament teams are encouraged to take part in this FREE event to promote the youth fishing movement. Fish can be hooked by adults and handed to Jr. anglers, and passed back and forth at any time. The goal is to simply take a kid fishing and show him/her a good time on the water. (Sunday, May 24th)
